Kalonji ( Nigella Sativa):
Black colored seeds, has an aroma like that of oregano and often used in breads and curries in Indian cuisine.  These are often called with other names like black cumin, onion seeds, black caraway and other misleading names. The use of this spice is wide spread.

Origin: Asia, Middle east  and Africa

Medicinal Value:
It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, di-uretic and carminative. Its oil has been used to purge worms and parasites. It is used in respiratory illness, and to treat stomach and pancreatic problems. The oil is used in earache. It is used in expelling kidney stones.
